Lysistrata scene summary
WebLysistrata enters with Calonice and Myrrhina, as the chorus of women extols her virtues. They say, "Eloquent but not verbose, uncompromising but willing to negotiate, exacting but forgiving." Lysistrata introduces everyone to "Peace," a "walking naked statue." She then tells them to bring the Spartan ambassador there, but gently, "like a woman." WebDuring the peace talks, Lysistrata reminds the Spartans and the Athenians that they have a past history of cooperation and advises them to remain friends forevermore. She introduces the delegates to a gorgeous young woman named Reconciliation; unable to take their eyes off of her, the delegates fall under her spell and sign the peace declaration.
